Social Security Number (SSN) Verification

Verifying your applicant's social security number and associated address history is generally accepted as the most effective first step in an FCRA-compliant criminal background check.

The SSN search reports the names and addresses associated with an applicant's social security number. This address history can then be used in selecting the court jurisdictions that should be researched for criminal records on your applicant. The SSN Search also searches the Social Security Death Master File and compares the SSN to the parameters of issued numbers to check for fraud.

The SSN Verification report is generated by the three major credit bureaus from information reported by creditors and is not a search of Social Security Administration records.
